Designed to help your student excel!

Small Group Math Sessions are the core of our tutoring program. In groups of 4-6 students, learners receive guided instruction, ask questions freely, and work through math concepts together. This collaborative environment encourages discussion, builds confidence, and helps students understand not just how to solve problems—but why the solutions work.

Small Group Math Tutoring

focused Math Learning Groups

When students work alongside peers, they gain exposure to different ways of approaching a problem. Hearing another student explain their thinking can unlock understanding in a way that traditional instruction sometimes cannot.

Our small groups are carefully structured to ensure every student participates and receives support. Students are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and actively engage with the material while receiving guidance every step of the way.

Students often learn best when they think through problems together.

Why Small Group Learning Works

Stronger Problem-solving skills

A supportive learning Environment

Increased Confidence asking questions

Multiple ways to approach & solve problems

My kids went to Melissa to get extra practice with math and they loved her. . . It’s pretty remarkable that my kids never complained when it was time to do math with her. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for help with math.

Each session is designed to reinforce core math concepts while giving students the opportunity to practice and apply what they learn.

During a typical session, students will:
  • Review key concepts and strategies
  • Work through guided examples
  • Practice problem-solving with support
  • Ask questions and discuss solutions
  • Strengthen their understanding through repetition and discussion

Groups are intentionally kept small so each student receives meaningful attention and instruction.

How Small Group Sessions Work

$35/Session
Secondary Math 2 (10th grade) builds on earlier algebra and introduces more challenging concepts that require strong problem-solving skills. These small group sessions help students stay on track, reinforce classroom learning, and develop confidence tackling more advanced problems.

Students may work on topics such as:
  • Advanced algebraic expressions
  • Systems of equations
  • Geometry and measurement
  • Mathematical reasoning
  • Multi-step problem solving

With guided instruction and peer collaboration, students gain the skills needed to approach challenging problems with confidence.

Supporting students as math concepts become more complex

Secondary Math II

$35/Session
Secondary Math 1 (9th grade) introduces more advanced algebraic concepts and mathematical reasoning. Small group sessions provide the opportunity for students to slow down, ask questions, and build confidence with more complex material.

Topics often include:
  • Algebraic manipulation
  • Linear relations and graphing
  • Patterns and equations
  • Geometry concepts
  • Applied problem solving

Students strengthen their understanding through guided practice and collaborative discussion.

Developing algebraic thinking and deeper mathematical understanding

Math 8 (8th grade) focuses on strengthening core skills and preparing students for the transition into higher-level mathematics. Sessions reinforce classroom concepts while helping students develop confidence in problem solving.

Students may work on topics such as:
  • Linear equations and graphing
  • Operations with integers and rational numbers
  • Algebraic expressions
  • Geometry and measurement concepts
  • Problem-solving strategies

These sessions help students develop the foundational skills needed for success in future math courses.

Custom Group Sessions

Custom Group Sessions allow students to book a full tutoring hour for their own small group up to 10 students. This option is ideal for friends or classmates who want to prepare for an upcoming test, review challenging concepts, or work through assignments together.

Students benefit from the same collaborative learning environment as our regular small group sessions, while focusing specifically on the topics they need the most help with.

Because the group is made up of students who already know each other and are studying the same material, these sessions often feel relaxed, productive, and highly engaging.
